Beyond being a compulsory section of educational life, it serves as a transformative interval where young minds acquire information, skills, and values that lay the foundation for his or her adult lives. At the tip of their secondary education, college students in Germany either take exams to get them into university (e.g. Abitur or International Baccalaureate) or work towards vocational diplomas. The concern of language and colleges is a key concern for many political teams in Malaysia.

In addition to passing entrance exams, students should fulfil explicit conditions for the chosen course. Degrees in some fields such as medicine, legislation, pure sciences, economics, psychology or veterinary are solely provided in the university system. Nursing, preschool education, accounting technician or health care technician levels are only provided within the polytechnic system. The different fields, together with engineering, expertise, management, education, agriculture, sports, or humanities are found each in college and polytechnic methods. The programmes supplied by professional schools, those of the apprenticeship system and those of recurrent studies are thought of as a particular modality of college education.
